OOTD 179 'CITY OF LIGHTS'

Hi! We are on a long flight to Paris today. Airport looks are tricky. You want to be chic but not wrinkled, pulled together and not disshoveled, and awake when you are jet lagged and exhausted.

Couple of tips: hit up the Xpress Spa on the airport. I'm a member and before take off we get massages, and I get a mani or polish change. They sell little packets of cucumber patches that are good to put over your eyes as well.

Travel with a face mask and oversized shades for the landing and burst of unwelcomed AM sunshine.

Wear leggings, avoid a belt. You have to take it off anyway.

Skip contacts, your eyes will dehydrate and be dried out- bad idea.

Wear boots that zip. Easy on, easy off.

Stay hydrated, stretch and wear comfy clothes. Paris is the city of light, hence this look. Here goes comfy:

Sparkly Leggings: VS Pink
Flowy tank: Phillip Lim 3.1 for Target
Leather Jacket: Guess
Scarf: H&M
Earrings: Asscher cut solitaires
Rings: Tiffany & Co.
Tote: Phillip Lim 3.1 for Target
On Nails: Chanel 'Mysterious'
Watch: Michael Kors
Boots: Banana Republic
Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabanna

Ok, off to catch the tail end of Fashion Week. Perhaps I'll be snapped for great street style.

OOTD 178 'ITALIAN LEATHER'

Hi! I told you about drop waist dresses and skirts paired with jackets and here is is as promised. This blazer I bought in Milan 10 years ago and it has held up so well. Nothing like good old Italian leather!

OOTD 177 'FALLING SKIRT'

Hi! It's not the skirt that's falling. It's the waist. This season every feminine bottom piece has a drop waist- both dresses and skirts. It's tricky to style. If you have on an oversized sweater with it, you risk looking frumpy. If it a dress, I recommend a cute bolero. Those are the really short jackets. If it's a less dressy occasion, top it with your cutest jacket. See tomorrow's look for reference.

Fall is the time for layers so here goes:

Bra Tank & Portofino Shirt: Express
Denim Jacket: Bitten
Leather skirt: Banana Republic
Flats: Tory Burch
Bag: Michael Kors or Zara studded clutch to turn the look up!
Necklaces: Black & White Diamond, various
Bracelets & Rose ring: Swarovski
Watch: Guess

OOTD 176 'CLEAN LINES'

Hi! Peplum is tricky. You can't just wear peplum with anything or you will quickly look like a flower failing to bloom properly. If the top and bottom are both peplum-- you look like a disaster. A cute peplum shirt should be paired with a form fitting bottom, either skinny, or slim pants, or maybe a form fitting pencil skirt. No more flare, it's not the 70's.

Today, Catherine Malandrino launched her low-price collaboration with Kohl's as part of a series called DesignNation that she is 3rd in, following Derek Lam. With Derek Lam, there was only 1 dress I lived for. With Catherine, I picked up about 4 items and am debating on a 5th. Overall, good quality, great fit, cute pieces and it's Kohl's prices - plus 25% discount! I'm also inspired since her line is Parisian and I leave for Paris Fashion Week this weekend. You'll see me wear most of these pieces next week since it's not available in Paris! Congratulations, Catherine!

Shirt: Phillip Lim 3.1 for Target
Ponte Pants: Catherine Malandrino for Kohl's
Flats: BCBG
Watch: Michael Kors
Rings: Tiffany & Co.
Earrings: Simply Vera Vera Wang
Bag: Zara
Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana

OOTD 175 'LEATHER PATCHWORK'

Hi! Fall is a great time to bust out the leather. Just don't be too dramatic. Do it in hints like I have with today's look. I love leather patch leggings. They don't have to be pricey. These are from H&M DOR $34.95. It's easy to dress them up with a flowy blouse and blazer.

Tech Tuesday 'Duolingo' App

Hi! Ever go to a country where you didn't speak the language? I'm heading to France next week and I haven't been in 10 years. It's time to brush up on my French. I'm using an app called Duolingo.
It's amazing! It uses several types of methods to teach you a language. You type in the language, recognize the spelling, use photos for association, listen to the language and even speak it to practice annunciation. It's on of my favorite apps and it saves lessons so you can use it on the subway now which is great multitasking! Not to mention, it's free.
They also send you daily reminders to keep you practicing. Like I mentioned, I'm practicing French but it has Spanish, Italian and various other languages as well. It's fun.
Since I'm going to need to eat, the basics are important so I can order. Hopefully I will be catching a few Paris Fashion Week shows and then I will need phrases like this:

Duolingo is available in the App Store for free.

Frugal Friday: Matte Top Coat

Hi! Here's the thing, I have a pretty extensive nail polish collection and as usual with fashion, the trend is something we don't already have- matte! It's almost like they do it on purpose to make it obvious that your shopping constantly. Well, not this time. Instead of buying a new set of matte polishes, I'm trying a new top coat. I found this one called Illamasqua from my local Sephora. It was $14.00 and didn't come with instructions. I'm assuming I just substitute the regular Essie 'no chips ahead' for this top coat. The truth is, I don't love it. It may be this brand or it may be the concept altogether. Today's Frugal Friday is a lesson- you get what you pay for. Buy matte polish. It's inexpensive and when the trend goes back to glossy and glittery, throw your top coat that you already have on it. Ta-da!

OOTD 172 'MICHAEL + ME'

Hi! I wear a lot of Michael Kors. Today is a bit obnoxious but I want to get a few looks in with this gold polish before I repaint my nails. Just being honest. You ever cook different with the same ingredients and make different meals? That's what getting dressed is like. My ingredient this week has been gold. Gold accents make things look very luxe. No one does that better than Michael Kors. I think I'm also inspired by my new gold iPhone...maybe a little. Stay tuned for Frugal Friday, iPhone will be featured. What's inexpensive about iPhone? Keep reading to find out.

Weekly Favorite: Breville Juicer

Hi! Ever watch that movie 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead'? It's pretty life changing. It's on Netflix. After watching that, my husband and I invested in a Breville Juicer. We purchased the compact one because the regular one was monstrous. This baby is pretty powerful. It juices entire fruits. I just rinse and disintegrate. It's awesome. Mind your portions and combos though because you could make some great tasting juice and some absolutely disgusting juice.
Typical green juice is 1/2 cucumber, 2 celery stalks, kale, 2 apples, a small piece of ginger and 1/2 lemon. I am not going to say 'yum' but I will say its healthy.

Honestly, my favorite thing to juice is 4 pears. Love it! This week I am fasting for personal reasons for 3 days and it entails juicing only. Busting out the Breville.

Tech Tuesday: iOS 7

Hi! I know, I'm a nerd. I am excited about the new iOS. Of course that means I vetoed a few apps that don't work with my colorful screen. I also switched to a white background for a while. Love the new block callers/messages feature and the sleek design. Download it from iTunes.

Here are my new screens:

What's your favorite feature of the new iOS?
